Her career spans the globe, with impactful roles in Silicon Valley, South America, Asia, and Europe, showcasing her ability to innovate, lead, and build across industries.
Mary’s career began in the 1990s, when she co-founded two tech-based internet start-ups in the San Francisco Bay Area. Both companies achieved successful exits: one through an IPO and the other through an acquisition by the internet's largest player at the time. With her entrepreneurial spirit and deep understanding of strategic growth and development, she transitioned into management consulting, working for Price Waterhouse, one of the “Big Four” global consulting firms. In this capacity, she helped optimize operations and management strategies across diverse industries, including hospitality, consumer products, and entertainment.
Her expertise in building brands and scaling businesses led her to Time Warner's Warner Brothers Entertainment, where she worked on some of the studio's most beloved franchises, including Harry Potter, The Matrix, and DC Comics properties like Batman and Superman. Mary’s work in brand management and franchise development continued at The Walt Disney Company, where she managed large, distributed teams across the globe building billion-dollar franchises that spanned all studio divisions—from consumer products to theatrical releases, video games, and global touring productions.
After years of success in entertainment, Mary pursued her lifelong passion for architecture and design, which had been shaped by her upbringing in midcentury modern Eichler homes in California. This experience with organic materials and the seamless integration of design with nature laid the foundation for her later work in real estate development. Over the last 15 years, Mary has become a leader in sustainable and eco-conscious design and construction, specializing in land acquisition and masterminding innovative new community developments. She is the Co-Founder and General Manager of The Sanctuary, a 100+ acre, fully off-grid, eco-luxury, healthy home community in Austin, Texas. Additionally, she owns a large portfolio of short-term rental properties, including her flagship property, Falling Leaves Austin. Her work has earned recognition in prestigious design and architecture publications around the world, including Architectural Digest and Japan’s GA Houses.
Mary’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond design; she is the founder of the Olympus Foundation, an organization dedicated to restoring natural landscapes and promoting environmental stewardship. Her passion for living lightly on the land and creating spaces in harmony with nature is central to her work, as she continues to create environments that not only reflect her aesthetic vision but also contribute to the healing of the planet.
